Newman Centers are Catholic Ministry Centers recognized as part of organizations founded in non-Catholic universities around the world. The establishment of these Catholic centers were a movement inspired by the writings of Cardinal John Henry Newman; who encouraged students attending secular universities to reach God within their studies and in their campus Catholic community.
The Newman House at Chadron State College is unique in that we are closely knit with our local parish, St. Patrick’s Catholic Community. Since the Newman House is not a parish in itself, we celebrate mass with the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Many of our students are liturgical ministers, Faith Formation teachers, or volunteer in other ways at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
The Newman House is an Apostulate, funded, and supervised by the Diocese of Grand Island. Newman ministry provides ministry to CSC students in Chadron in addition to other students in Chadron who attend college online. There are no membership requirements or special registration procedures. Anyone who wants to be part of a caring, spirit-led Christian community is more than welcome to come. You do not have to be a Catholic to attend! We emphasize the four essentials of Christian spirituality: prayer, faith, action, and study.
Students run a club on campus called the "Newman House Club" this club is an active part of Chadron State College C.A.B (Campus Activities Board).
“To Live is to change, to be perfect is to have changed often.”
